Norwegian Society of Records Managers and Archivists (Norsk Arkivråd/NA) is the largest archival interest group in Norway, with more than 1200 members nationwide.
Members come from all sectors and levels of organisations; both private and public, state ministries and local authorities, small consultancies and multinational companies.
We aim at strengthening the professional and public attitudes towards document management, information management and records management. (In Norwegian we make a distinction between “archival creation” as opposed to “archival repositories”, which doesn’t necessarily correspond to the anglo-saxon terms of records management and archives).
We comment on relevant consultation documents from public authorities and agencies.
Creating better education and training for those who work within Records Management and Archives is a main goal of the Society.
We have a comprehensive line of training courses and strive continously to develop new current courses to meet new challenges faced by the profession. Each year we also arrange several general and specialist seminars.
The Society publishes a quarterly magazine – “Arkivråd”.
The Society gives grants to members based on applications to further develop records management education.
We also give grants for developing educational material and textbooks within our field. We support different levels, from publishing articles to producing books.
The Society has contacts with sister organisations in the Nordic countries and several other countries. We are a member of International Council on Archives (ICA).
Vilde Ronge is representing NA, and is currently Chair of Section for Professional Associations (SPA) in ICA.
